Only 8 matches this gameweek due to Man Utd's and Liverpool's champions league qualifying matches, but certainly no lack of goals.
Chelsea continued with their slow and steady season game-plan by winning 2-0 at Crystal Palace, whilst Villa were left licking thier wounds after a shock 3-0 defeat at the Valley.
You've heard enough of my compliments for Arsenal, so i shall say no more. I have to mention that Arsenal have becoming the greatest English team of all time by going 43 games unbeaten in the top flight.

What an exciting gameweek! Its the most exciting start to an EPL season for ages. For once, all the teams have at least a point to boast of after 2 games, whilst onli 2 teams have achieved the maximum 6 points, Arsenal and Chelsea. The rest of the pack are fairly on the same platform.
Arsenal, what an impressive comeback against Middlesbrough! Its most definitely match of the season so far. An 8-goal thriller with Arsenal coming out tops. Dennis Bergkamp led a Gunners charge from 1-3 down to win 5-3, with Arsenal firing on all cylinders. They showed why they are still the team to beat this year. Scoring 9 goals in 2 games without Sol Campbell and Patrick Vieira, with Pires and Ljungberg playing onli bit-part roles.
Chelsea began a new era under Jose Mourinho, winning thier last 2 games 1-0 comprehensively. Again they defended superbly and won the day with a solid goal from substitute Joe Cole. It will certainly be a mouth-watering clash when the 2 teams take on each other in a London derby. Man Utd also kick-started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Norwich, Alan Smith proving to be a revelation for the Red Devils. Liverpool continued their good form under Rafael Benitez to win 2-1 against Man City. With Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia arriving at Merseyside, it could only get better.

Well finally the English Premiership is underway after a 3-month break. Lots of transfers and incidents took place in that 3 months but we are focusing on what happened on Gameweek 1 of the EPL season!
Quite a number of games ended in draws this week and this might be the best way to kickstart your campaign after a long lay-off. But no one told this to Arsenal and Bolton who simply whallopped their opponents with 4-1 wins. Looks like Arsenal have continued from where they left last season, unbeaten!
The mouth-watering clash of Chelsea vs Manchester United was highly anticipated. However both teams failed to entertain with Chelsea winning by 1 goal to nil and defended superbly after scoring the jugular. Man United had plenty of possession but failed to convert them into goalscoring chances. So, i had to admit, i sort of fell asleep during the game.
Well this gameweek merely gave us an appetizer of what is to come during the course of the season. Arsenal and Man United are not at full strength yet, whilst the transfer window is still wide open for another 2 weeks. Dun be surprised if some club digs into its coffers and make a surprise transfer. From what i know, Xabi Alonso is close to signing for Liverpool, so sit back and enjoy the rest of the season!

Boo-boo of the week: Portsmouth winning a penalty against Birmingham
-honestly i didn't see any foul committed by the Birmingham defenders, rather i think it was a hand ball by Steve Stone.

The community shield gave us a preview of what was to come from the top 2 guns of the English Premier League. Arsenal won the game 3-1, and proved that there will indeed be life after Patrick Vieira.
Now lets take a look at what some of the youngsters can offer...
Francesc Fabregas(Arsenal): The young Spaniard was given a 70min run-out by Wenger and conducted himself well. A radical style from the hard-tackling Vieira, Fabregas complements Gilberto well and can be dangerous in attacks.
Robin van Persie(Arsenal): Arsenal's new Dutch signing didn't really impress me, could have gotten a debut goal in the game but Gilberto reached the ball first. The lanky striker could provide another option in attack with his head, having already scored 2 headers in pre-season friendlies.
Jeremie Aliadiare(Arsenal): The young French striker played just 8 min before rupturing his knee ligaments. He has proven last season that he can come up with a few goals from time to time, but not really a proven goalscorer yet.
David Bellion(Man Utd): The Frenchman has blistering pace, but needs to work on his timing of his runs. He was caught by the Arsenal off-side trap countless of times during the game.
Jonathan Spector(Man Utd): The American arrives with a big reputation as one of the brightest star of the future, he was given too little time in the game to impress at all.
Darren Fletcher(Man Utd): The midfielder is a product of Man Utd's famous youth academy and has featured in some matches last season. Needs to work hard on his ball distribution to replace Backham on the United right-wing.
